Well, after about five days and countless loads of laundry, I am pleased to tell you that Sadie’s appetite returned once again.
And to celebrate, we dined on spaghetti (GOOD GOD I WANT TO EAT MY SCREEN RIGHT NOW).
Whatever virus felled my tiny lady, it sure did knock her for a loop. My usually ravenous kid (who often has “WAS A BOTTOMLESS PIT” written in the “Today I…” section of her daily daycare sheet) had no real appetite to speak of, eating a few crackers or bowls of cereal here and there, but showing no interest in her daily routine of breakfast, second breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, pre-dinner snack, and dinner. Also, there was the sleeping. ZOMG THE SLEEPING. Girlfriend slept from 5:30pm Thursday night until 8:30am Friday morning, got up, ate a piece of toast, then went back to sleep from 9:30am til 2:30pm. WHOA.
But now she’s (finally) back to her normal energy and appetite, and Brad & I seem to have made it through unscathed. FOR NOW. THIS TIME. YOU ARE NEVER REALLY SAFE WITH AN ADORABLE LITTLE GERM FARM UNDER YOUR ROOF.
Now that we’re all back in reasonably good health, it’s time to get back to what’s really important: complaining about the cold, snowy, miserable weather that threatens to smother us under a blanket of seasonal depression. Wheeeee.
I usually try to distract myself from the (NEVER-ENDING) cold and grey weather around this time of the year because I know once I acknowledge the fact that it’s killing my soul, that’s when the time between now and spring reeeeaaaallly starts to crawl. Well, I held out until February this year. February! The shortest month! Followed by March! Which is pretty much pre-spring! And then April! Almost there! Right?! RIGHT?! *SOB*
What’s really killing me is that I’ll think about something that happened EONS ago, and then I’ll realize it actually happened during the second week of January, and then my soul shrivels up a tiny bit more.
Speaking of things that destroy my soft, creamy insides:
Sadie’s teacher posted a “then and now” retrospective to the school’s Facebook page, showing how far Sadie and some of the other long-timers have come. The photo on the left was taken a little less than two years ago, the one on the right was taken Monday.
GUYS. HAVE YOU SEEN A CHUBBY LITTLE TWO-YEAR-OLD AROUND HERE SOMEWHERE? I SEEM TO HAVE MISPLACED HER. In other news, OW MY FUCKING HEART. Why do I want time to pass so quickly (c’mon, spring!) when I know damn well it takes my baby with it?
I had more to say today, but I can’t stop staring at that picture up there and having all kinds of thoughts about that amazing kid, who I still can’t believe really exists.
